Yes — when prescribed and monitored by a qualified healthcare professional, weight loss injections are generally safe. Most side effects (like nausea or mild digestive issues) are temporary and manageable. A full medical review is done before starting treatment to ensure it’s suitable for you.
Am I eligible for weight loss injections?
You are only eligible for these injections if you are over 18 and have a BMI over 30 (or BMI over 27 with other medical conditions, such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure). There are also conditions that would exclude a patient from starting these medications such as a history (or family history) of thyroid cancer, history of acute or chronic pancreatitis, Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2. They are also not suitable for breast feeding or pregnant individuals.
Do I still need to diet and exercise?
Yes. These injections are designed to support — not replace — healthy habits. You’ll get the best and most sustainable results by combining the medication with a balanced diet, regular physical activity, and ongoing support from your care team.
