Optimise athletic performance!
ECG
At RevitaMed, our advanced sports health screen covers a wide range of biological markers relevant to general health and athletic performance. Being able to optimise your nutritional status and check for any deficiency allows your body to be in peak condition for the purpose of muscle building, protection, and repair.
Initial Appointment
As with all our checks, during an initial 15 minute consultation your bloods will be taken, and health readings taken.
What tests are specific to sports performance?
Creatine kinase, CK-MB and Myoglobin assess muscle damage and injury, which is particularly relevant for athletes. Hormones related to stress and energy regulation, such as Cortisol and DHEA-S, are extremely important as they impact athletic performance. Total antioxidant status measures the body’s ability to neutralise free radicals, which can cause cellular damage and contribute to various diseases.
How often should these tests be done?
We suggest that as part of a general health programme, these are carried out firstly after six months if you have made significant lifestyle changes to see any improvement you have made. Following this, an annual review is worth doing to pick up new changes that may need attention.
What happens once I have had my tests?
Following your investigations, you will receive a detailed written report with an explanation of each of the results. After taking some time to digest these, you will have the opportunity to discuss them with an experienced GP (or you could take these to your personal trainer), who will advise you on next steps.
